Aniktos Guitars are custom made in Long Island NY. These are very well built instruments with a modern twist on the T-Style (Tele) Guitar, at a moderate entry level price-point. This instrument is semi-hollow and features a custom wound set of Gemini Pickups. In the neck position we have a Humbucker sized Gold-Foil and a "Suprocaster" Bridge pickup. The Suprocaster pickup is based on the original Oahu/Valco/Supro "String through" lap steel pickup. You can think of it as a really beefed out Tele pickup mixed with a P-90 w/ tons of clarity and bell-like sustain. Hear the great Jim Campilongo playing one in the bridge poition of a Tele in the video below.
From Aniktos Guitars: "The idea started from two friends who share a love of musical instruments, specifically the Telecaster. Paul Karekinian (musician and woodworker) was making Tele bodies in his wood shop. He showed Robert Jack a piece of zebra-wood that he was thinking of making a drop top out of. Rob said “why don’t you make two?” So we did. When it came time to put a logo on the head-stocks, Rob suggested that Karekinian Guitars had a nice ring to it. Paul replied “Aniktos” What is Aniktos? Aniktos Karekinian was Paul’s grandfather. He was a master woodworker who lost his arm to an accident, He continued to make fine cabinets with one arm for the next 35 years. So that’s the name. And that’s us. We both hope you enjoy our guitars and basses."
