About This Listing

Greco branded Shin-ei multi-effect pedal HA-9P, professionally refurbished and 100% functioning. Light patina from approximately 50 years of use, two feet missing, small paint marks on left side, but overall presents very well as a vintage MIJ effect.

Shin-ei was the most prolific Japanese manufacturer of guitar effects in the 1970s and some of the utterly legendary effects boxes have their origin in the Shin-ei laboratories: the Uni-Vibe and the Uni-Fuzz, in the western world better known as the Univox Super Fuzz. Most of the Shin-ei products were sold under different brand names and even unbranded.
This little monster is a multi effect pedal, seemingly created to enhance the surf sounds of the great instrumental bands of the mid-1960s and beyond. Selector control chooses volume, Surf, Wind, or Wah Wah effects. A separate button triggers a siren effect, and there are volume controls specifically for the volume of the siren, Surf and Wind sounds. The heel / toe rocker pedal controls the expression, but to top off the madness, it works in reverse of the usual "toe = more, heel = less". Not sure why this pedal never really caught on.
