About This Listing

Here's a vintage axe made in Japan from the mid 1960s, a Teisco Del Rey Model WG-4L 4 pick up solid body electric guitar. This axe features a two tone sunburst finish and a bolt-on steel reinforced neck with a 20-fret rosewood fingerboard and simple, deco styled inlays perfect for your surf or Brit rock aspirations.

The original bridge is still in great shape considering the age of the guitar and we were able to find the correct replacement whammy bar. The guitar has all original electronics, including the four single coil pickups. There is a single volume and single tone control knob with four on/off rocker switches for each pickup along with a rhythm/solo switch.  With all of the electronic options on this guitar, there are plenty of creative options for all of you tone wizards out there.

ALL SALES ARE FINAL - NO RETURNS
ALL ITEMS ARE SOLD IN AS-IS CONDITION

All of our instruments sold are in complete, working condition. This instrument was professionally inspected, repaired if necessary & given a pro set-up by one of our favorite luthiers/guitarist/composer/teacher & fantastic all around human being as well as the co-founder of April Mae & The Junebugs, Dave "Catfish" Fecca of Dave Fecca Guitar Repair located in Moorestown, NJ...so this axe is ready to rip!

CONDITION:
Instrument is in Very Good+ player grade condition, in our opinion. There are many bruises & assorted dings along the bottom and back sides of the guitar. All things considered, this instrument is in fine shape and has fully working electronics that still sound great. The cosmetic wear has absolutely no impact on the overall sound of this instrument. The only thing replaced was the whammy bar. This guitar was given a professional restoration and full pro set-up to get it into complete working order.
We may change out the internal wiring for the input jack, as we've noticed some nasty sounding interference when this instrument is demo'ed in our bricks & mortar shop. If this is accomplished it will be duly noted in this listing & obviously, that re-wiring will not be original to the guitar. We feel it's better for the instrument to SOUND & FUNCTION 100%, rather than retain originality.

DIMENSIONS:
   Body is 39 1/8" long x 12 1/2" wide x 1 1/4" deep; neck is 17 1/2" long x 1 3/4" wide at the 1st fret, 2" wide at the 12th fret, & 2 1/8" wide at the 17th fret.
The nut width is 1 3/4".

Guitar weighs in at a very comfortable 7 lbs, 10 oz.

NOTES:
According to a very kind, helpful Reverber, Eddie Van Halen owned this same model Teisco and it was supposedly his very first electric guitar which he purchased at Sears. EVH is pictured playing his replacement WG-4L in the recent book titled “Eruption, Conversations with Eddie Van Halen”,  by Brad Tolinski and Vince Gill. So, if it was good enough for one of the greatest, most innovative guitarists of all time, perhaps it’s good enough for you!
This instrument is ready to play in any capacity the player wishes. This instrument would give a great deal of pleasure to a collector, a recreational player, or a professional.

Obviously, this is being sold as is, where is, with no implied warranties or guarantees of any kind whatsoever. **SPECIAL NOTE: It is with a very heavy heart that we wish to share the news of the recent passing of our almost 12 year old red & white beagle, our beloved Ace. He was our mascot, and namesake of this site. He gave us the initial inspiration to sign up with Reverb.com, primarily due to the name that we chose to use on this fantastic website. He was also the chief of security & official greeter for our bricks & mortar shop, always ready to engage with the customers; tail wagging, happy & always on the lookout for any ingestible treats that the customer wished to share with him as well as a nice butt or belly rub.
Ace is, and will continue to be, very sorely missed by all who knew him. Our shop will never be the same without his presence. But, his intense spirit and joie de vivre lives on, through our loving memories of him and also via this wonderful platform online. Love the heck out of ya, Acie!!

Sadly, Ellis

TO ALL PROSPECTIVE BUYERS:
If you are contemplating making us an offer on this or any of our other varied listings, please be fully prepared to follow through, pay for your item and consummate the deal if your offer is accepted by us. We have been hit hard lately by offers from buyers with little or even zero feedback or inexperience on this selling platform. These buyers never paid for their purchases.  Obviously, we would rather this never happen again, but sometimes it will occur no matter what our wishes are. Thank you for reading this far and for your patience and understanding as well. And, in the immortal lyrics from an early Steve Miller Band tune, “You gotta keep on keepin on”!
