Up for sale is a very good example of an early 80's Jackson Randy Rhoads RR1 Student Model. The guitar was logged as being built on 01/27/84, student model, black with a Kahler. The only difference with the student model was they have the dot inlays instead of shark fin and had a rosewood fretboard instead of ebony. This guitar is in very good condition with very minimal chips or dings. There are small chips on the pointed tip of the headstock and the ends of the fins, but these are not nearly as bad as the chunks of wood that you usually see missing (looks like someone colored in the chips with a black sharpie pen). The marks you see on the side of the long fin in the picture are just reflections and not dings of any kind. There is some crazing of the finish in some areas as well as some wear on the edges of the fretboard on both sides. The main damage to this guitar is that it has had a previous neck repair. It is such a good repair, though, that I would not even have known about it if the person I bought it from had not told me. I tries to capture the repair in the included picture, but it is really hard to see unless you are looking for it, and I am still not exactly sure what kind of repair it was or where it even is exactly. The guitar plays great and all electronics function as they should. The guitar is mostly original with some exceptions. The standard JB bridge pickup has been replaced with a Seymour Duncan Stag Mag split coil pickup. A split coil switch was also added to the control plate. Most collectors would probably prefer the original JB without the split coil and these pickups along with a new control plate are readily available online for less than $90 total for both. So it would be very easy to convert this guitar back if you desired. Has the original JN pickup in the neck. The truss rod cover was replaced and cut so that the locking nut did not have to be removed to adjust the truss rod, but the original truss rod cover is in the case if you want to switch it back. The tremolo arm is also not original, nor is the hardshell Jackson case with keys included. Overall a great collectible guitar for the money and you know these low serial number RR1's are getting harder and harder to find! This guitar will sell fast, so MAKE ME AN OFFER AND I JUST MIGHT ACCEPT IT!
