This Excelsior Symphony Grand, made in New York in the 1950's, seems to have escaped the years in damp basements and hot attics that so many of these "golden age" instruments have suffered. When I got it around 2011 it appeared to be in great shape. Only the faintest signs of wear on the black finish. No chrome missing, no cracks or chips on the keyboard. No botched efforts to install or remove pickups. Even the case shows very little wear. The respected accordion technician, Guenadiy Lazarov, recently gave it a tuning and made some minor adjustments, said it was a particularly clean example of this classic model. Original hand made reeds, all keys and switches work perfectly. New straps.
41 keys, LMMH, swing tuning. 10 switches plus palm master. Mute switch.
120 bass, 6 sets of reeds, 7 switches.
