This is an awesome guitar.
That much should be obvious, but just in case the awesomeness is lost on you, I will explain.

The Rawhide "E-Type" is the brainchild of a then Robin dealer, BCR Music & Sound, and myself as we were aboard an airplane to Houston to visit the Robin factory.
The goal was to have Dave Wintz, the owner of Robin Guitars & Rio Grande Pickups, build a Rawhide which emulated the vibe of the Fender Esquire.

One pickup, no nonsense.

Creating these Esquire-type ("E-Type") Rawhides would require several changes to an already great design.

First of all, all Wranglers/Rawhides had factory routing under the pickguard for a neck pickup. We didn't want that. We wanted a light body with none of the tone routed away. Plus, these were going to be custom, and this would be just one point to set these 6 guitars apart from the other Rawhides.

Second, the pickguard had to be "Telecaster" shaped, unlike the Robin's guard which followed the contour of the upper bout. These had to be an homage to the Esquire, while still retaining their innate "Robin-ness."
The problem is, no such animal existed, as the control plate on the Robin differs from the Fender's.

And third, they had to have Rio Grande's (then) new Dirty Harry Telecaster bridge pickup. Dave had just unveiled the Dirty Harry for Telecasters, and they had the power necessary to take this guitar where it needed to go.

While the above discussion was going on, I went to the room where the necks were curing/drying and picked some gorgeous presentation-grade maple necks.

Eventually, Dave agreed to make the guitars, provided that BCR Music would make the pickguards by hand in their shop in Pennsylvania.

Submitted for your approval is one of those 6 E-Type Rawhides in 100% original condition, zero fret wear and original Robin HSC, also in beautiful condition.
