Up for sale is a players-grade 1966 Gibson Non-Reverse Firebird. It has been refinished over the original mahogany, very nicely done approximately 10 years ago. Non-original parts include Lollar mini-humbucker pickups, Bigsby, Gotoh tuners, WD pickguard, pots, switch, wiring, etc, and tune-o-matic bridge. The original bridge post holes were doweled, and the new bridge posts positioned with a slight offset so that intonation is correct. The work appears to have been very well done by a professional, thought I don't know the history.

The frets are in great shape, the fingerboard is a beautiful rosewood. The playability and sound of this guitar is incredible! You can feel the resonance when you strum a chord, the feeling you can only get from good, old Gibson wood. The sustain is outstanding. The tone of the Lollar mini-humbuckers is really great, especially bridge pickup with heavy overdrive. Great rock tone.

There is a bit of visible buckle rash on the back. About 3/4 of the way up the neck there is a line in the wood grain that looks like it may have been a small crack that was repaired long ago. You can't feel it through the refinished lacquer, but you can see it if you look closely. It is clearly well done and solid.

It comes in a very nice Gibson Custom case, which shows no wear at all. It still has the plastic tab so that you can set the lock combination.

This is a great way to get into a 1960's vintage gibson with incredible tone and playability, and killer looks, without paying for a museum piece.

Shipping is set at $90 for continental US addresses. The case is big and heavy, so if you are located outside of the continental US please message me for with your location and I will provide a shipping quote. Thanks!
