About This Listing

Up for sale is a 1959 Kay Upbeat (K8990) guitar with the "Kelvinator" headstock and tissue box pickups in the Blonde finish.

Overall, for it's age it's in good condition. There are no structural issues with the guitar.

The electronics all work.

It's the desirable Kelvinator model. The headstock is all intact and it has a decent shine to it.

All of the hardware seems to be original besides the saddle and probably the nut.

Tuners work about as well as you'd expect for the age.

The neck is in great shape.

The original pickguard is missing but I am including new hardware and a sheet of pickguard material from Stew-Mac. I was going to make one myself but I figured I'd let the new owner do what they want with it.

The original pickguard is missing.

There is a few dings on the front side of the body and scratches on the headstock.

The finish has some age-induced issues - finish checking and a little finish chip-out on the lower front-side body. Also some finish splitting near the neck.

The frets are worn low. Still playable!

The fretboard has visible age to it (maybe a pro?)

No case included. I will heavily protect the guitar in shipping.

I've tried be as thorough with my pictures and description as possible, and as such there will be no returns (besides shipping damage).
