Today, Lawman Guitars is Presenting..

A fantastic 1965 Gibson ES 125 DC with original vintage correct Hardshell Case..

Be sure to check out the video demo we did for this awesome historic Gibson Guitar!

You are probably more used to seeing ES 125 with a TDC designation. The T stands for thinline. You will also notice this one is not a thinline. It’s the much more RARE Thick model ES 125 with the Florentine Cutaway and dual incredible Gibson P90 Pickups. The basic difference between this guitar and the ES 175 is this has an unbound neck. Other than that, it almost like the ES 175’s ….The Thick body is just incredible. Really thick sound from this guitar versus the thin bodies we are used to seeing. For every few dozen of the the thin models, they made a thick one. These are very very rare to find. I thought it was a ES 175 when I first saw it. Took me awhile to figure out the difference. The ES 175 is 1/2 inch wider..this one is 15 3/4 inches wide, has trapezoidal fret markers and bound necks. The nut measure 1 9/16th's inch.. A fancier pickguard and tailpiece. This ES 125 DC has the standard tailpiece, dots, standard pickguard..(original), and unbound neck.

This awesome guitar is mostly original… The bridge base is not original but the top part looks original. It still has the original Pickguard and hardware, Truss rod cover, Gibson Reflector Knobs, Tailpiece, Kluson Double Line Tuners and nut. Given that there is some finger divots from play and the wear on the back of the neck, I am assuming the original frets were replaced. The frets on this guitar are beautiful. Much nicer than originals would have been. At some point there was a side crack that was professionally repaired with a input jack plate. My guess would be that the cord was stepped on and the jack was broken out. A common break back in the day. See pic 11…It also had a headstock crack in some point. It also was professionally repaired and not indication of weakness in that area could be found by our Techs. Typically with a correct repair, that would be the last place the guitar would ever break again. The guitar has many cracks and dings as shown in the pics. The finish crazing on the top is just beautiful. It has aged beautifully. You cannot replicate years of honest player wear like that. The Truss rod works properly and the neck angle on this guitar is perfect. No indication it had ever been reset nor will it need it . It has great playing action…What can you say about 1960’s Gibson P90 Pickups. Incredible…They are powerful, tuneful, and in your face. The bridge pickup screams…and the neck is thick and smoky. I love these pickups.

The guitar has an excellent neck angle and it plays like butta. I had my Tech go over it and pronounced it ready to play again for another 50 years. The action is as good as it gets. I have it strung with 11 gauge strings with a wound G string…They sound fantastic. This is a full size body. It is 15 3/4 inches wide and 3 3/8 inches thick. The flamey body and neck look awesome. The guitar has not sat around. Check out the finish wear on the back of the neck and where the belly rides on the back... You don’t get that on a closet classic.

Heres the Specs on this awesome guitar…

  • 6 lbs, 8 oz.
  • Sunburst Finish
  • Maple Top
  • Mahogany Back and Sides
  • Mahogany Neck
  • Rosewood Fretboard
  • 24-3/4" Scale Length
  • Full Body Binding
  • Dual P-90 Pickups
  • Rosewood Bridge ( Top original, base replaced)
  • Kluson Double Line Tuners

I got this guitar with a newer case. That would never do for this guitar. I had the shown vintage correct 1960’s Hardshell Case around here for some time waiting for the right guitar. I finally found it. It looks great in this case. The case is in great shape for its age. Its probably a Lifton given the latches and appointments but no Lifton label to show. The blue interior is in great shape and it still has the correct accessory box and lid restraint strap. All latches, hinges and original handle are present and operating correctly. Some binding has become loosened at the severe bouts but its still all there and makes a proper case for this incredible guitar!

This guitar is Very rare and will only continue to increase in value. They aren’t making any more like this so grab it while you can.

The lucky buyer is to pay $85 shipping for the lower 48..all others please ask. It is sold as-is no returns, however, I have been hand picking my customers guitars for over 16 years now and they all have loved the instruments I find. This one will not be an exception…check my feedbacks.
