About This Listing

Up for sale is a German Pro Series Bolt on 5 String Thumb bass with upgraded Bartolini pickups and preamp!

I am the original owner and have had it for a couple of years.  No gigging. I haven't used it in my recordings as much as I thought I would, so I've decided to sell it to buy something else as always...Cosmetically there are only a few minor scratches, I give it a 9.5/10...

I installed the preamp and pickups myself. I'm very well practiced at these sorts of things and have done dozens of my own guitar mods over the years. I had a matched set but swapped out the bridge for a smoother top end response.  Therefore, the neck has a more glossy finish than the bridge pickup. Also. I never got around to matching the knobs.

These basses have a distinct sound which is why I've made a video demo (Audio only). There are 3 clips put together. (both, neck, bridge pups) Done with a BAE 1073 preamp and the UA Ampeg SVT unison plugin, then into Cubase. Only light limiting with the Neve 33609 plugin for clipping on the slap. Of course, results will vary somewhat depending on what your rig is.

Forgive the terrible noodling, I was not in a musical mood after working on this ad for awhile! This is far from the sound of a fender for instance. Very strong midrange growl and bark. Very tight bottom end. Due to the pickup placement, it gets more nasal when the pickups are blended 50/50. What it does, it does very well. There's a reason these things have been in production by Warwick for decades. Take a listen and see if its right for you!

The electronics have all been changed from stock of I no longer have them.  Instead we have a Bartolini 918 type active/passive preamp with the following controls:

1. volume (push/pull for active/passive)
2. blend
3 mid cut/boost with 3 way switch (250/500/800)hz I believe
4. stacked bass/treble cut/boost

Can't remember the pickup model numbers! Sorry about that...You can hear them though and they are a nice upgrade from the stock pups IMHO! As with any bass guitar, it will need to be setup on your end to suit your playing style and possible shipping effects.
