We found something out today: Josh White, the celebrated folk/blues artist was not only Ovation's first endorsee, but also the first African-American musician to have a signature guitar model with a major guitar company. That's pretty dang cool. Sadly, Josh passed away in 1969 and the guitar that bore his name was discontinue (later re-introduced as the Folklore). Here we have a 1974 Ovation Fokllore guitar, model 1114-4. It is a 12-fret slot-head model. This an extremely clean example, in excellent original condition with no problems. The frets are in near perfect condition, showing only the slightest hints of ever being played. The action is low, and it plays and sounds great. 1 7/8" nut width. Ebony fingerboard. Our resident finger-style guitarist Buzzy, has one of these in his personal collection. He's owned it for over forty years and still plays it on a regular basis, along with his Collings, Martin, Bourgeois and other fine acoustics. It's a great guitar with original hard case and original hang tag (very rare to have the hang tag).
