This is the personal bass owned by legendary Platinum selling, Grammy winning Megadeth frontman Dave Mustaine. As an original member of Metallica and a founding member of Megadeth, Mustaine is rock royalty with tens of millions of die-hard fans around the world. This bass was part Dave's personal collection that he sold on Reverb.com in 2019. Our studio famously acquired the collection, which led to major articles mentioning the purchase in Rolling Stone, Guitar World, Guitar Player, Reddit and every guitar forum on the internet! Dave mentioned in the Rolling Stone article that he would be happy to meet me and sign the entire collection, so we brought the collection to Wembley Arena in London where Megadeth played alongside Five Finger Death Punch and Bad Wolves on January 31st, 2020. It was one of the few shows Megadeth was able to do before the global COVID-19 pandemic brought the music industry to a halt. This is the only bass he has ever sold to the general public. I was surprised to learn Dave actually used his non-guitar instruments in the collection in the writing process for previous records! These were not simply unwanted gifts from the company that endorsed him, but instruments he relied on for his creative process with Megadeth. The bass has buckle rash from Dave himself where he played this at his home and in the studio!

There's only one Dave Mustaine bass in the world, and you're looking at it. Both Dave and David Ellefson were kind enough to sign it with a stunning gold paint-pen that really compliments the gold hardware. The trans black flame top is beautiful. This is a fantastic piece of history & functional art that is cheaper than a lot of new Rolex watches.  Comes with an additional signed/sealed Certificate of Authenticity signed by Dave Mustaine as well. There is exclusive video footage of the signing at Wembley Arena that will be made available to the buyer. You can also see David Ellefson signing the bass at Wembley in the attached video.

This rare Megadeth personally owned bass from Dave Mustaine is part of our premium instrument collection at Essex Recording Studios. Follow us on Facebook, YouTube and Instagram!
