Schecter Hellcat Bass VI (Diamond Series)

Not a guitar, bass, or even a baritone in today's terms, the Hellcat VI (six!) is designed to be an improvement of the 6-string bass instrument of the early 1960s. With a 30" scale, the Hellcat VI is standard tuned, but one octave below a normal guitar.

Tuners - Grover ROTOMATICS® WITH 18:1 GEAR RATIO (102-18 SERIES) The original Rotomatic® with an improved higher ratio gearing. The 18:1 ratio provides for finer tuning and greater stability. The finer gears provide smoother tuning and a higher degree of backlash elimination

Finger Board - Rosewood - The most common fretboard, Rosewood is naturally oily, and works well for any surface that sees frequent human contact. The sound is richer in fundamental than Maple because the stray overtones are absorbed into the oily pores.

Pickups - Duncan Designed MH-102 - This mini-humbucker has more brightness than a full-size humbucker, but more fatness than a single coil.

Neck - Maple - Maple has a uniform grain, it’s strong and stable, and it has less reaction from environmental changes than other hardwoods. Its tone is highly reflective, and focuses more energy onto the body wood. Maple transfers a bright tone to the body which complements the warm tones of a mahogany body

The Schecter Hellcat was developed as one of the signature models The Cure's Robert Smith and Porl Thompson use. Replacing the Fender Bass VI guitars The Cure use on many of their tracks. The guitar pictured/described is the first model that was released, Later models have 3 pickup switches rather than one five way switch, block inlays and a maple fretboard option.
