This timpani seems pretty solid. The pedal mechanism works as far as I can tell. The head has a few dents but no tears or slices. The bowl appears to be free of damage.
However, the bowl has started to separate from the rim/hoop in several places. I believe that is the biggest issue. The wheel could use tightening/repair. The finish has chips here and there. It was owned by Strategic Air Command band (the Air Force band stationed at Offutt A.F.B.), and I have to believe it was cared for while in their possession until the bowl/hoop separation warranted it's replacement.
I'm not a percussionist and I'm not familiar with timpanis, so I'm forced to price and sell this timp as is. I've recorded with it without issue, and it seems to function and sound as it should. If you want a cheap timpani to screw around with would fit the bill. A set of these goes for close to $2000, so I feel my asking price reflects age and condition. Local pickup prefered, but if you want to make it worth my time to ship insured we can discuss that. I'm happy to answer questions and take picture requests. Lastly, I've included pictures of my attempt to measure diameter. 26" is the diameter from the outside of the flesh hoop.
