Grez Guitars are hand built in California one at a time by Luthier Barry Grzebik. The Mendocino is a breath of fresh air in the world of hand-built boutique guitars. Grez Guitars are a unique blend of old world craftsmanship and forward thinking design. The idea behind the Mendocino was to build a super light weight and compact highly chambered Semi-Hollow body guitar, that sounds like a mix between a full-size semi-hollow guitar and an Archtop. This particular custom example features a Black Nitro finished Reclaimed Old-Growth Redwood top. This instrument has a beautiful Macassar Ebony fingerboard with a 12" radius. It is a true joy to hold and play, it is also extraordinarily well balanced. Even unplugged this Custom Mendocino is loud, with a complex, airy and lively voice. The Lollar Gold-Foil pickups are a treat. Clear, crisp, fat and dynamic. They also take gain extremely well, with overtones and harmonics that’s just leap off the fret board. We asked Barry to add a TK-Smith Vibrato to this incredible build. All we can say is WOW. This is truly a heirloom-quality guitar that you will enjoy for a lifetime.
