This guitar was custom made for me by my luthier and is an absolute beauty. Far better than a Gibson SG.
She has a very thin body (Made from Ekki timber) but thanks to the ekki timber it balances really well – far better than most SGs. It also has a very shallow neck angle (it doesn’t need any more than 1 degree because of the way the neck sits in relation to the body). This allowed a Seymour Duncan Quarterpounder to be fitted in the neck position and a Seymour Duncan SH4 pickup to be fitted in the bridge position.
The two pickups are very well balanced in terms of their output – and controlled by a 3 way selector switch. There’s a master volume and master tone, orange drop 0.022uf capacitor and a small block of lead sheets in the cavity to fine-tune the balance.
The standard Gibson SG doesn’t sound anywhere near as good as this guitar and also has the tendancy to nose dive, whereas this guitar is perfectly balanced and a joy to play. All round it’s the perfect SG!
