About This Listing

sell this very old early german Archtops from the 30s or early 40s
these guitars were called "Gibson Gitarren" because the german luthiers at that time were so impressed by the making and sounding of the early Gibson archtops so they start to copy them
often just having raw paintings or pictures from a catalogue.
As many jazz and classic guitarist may know, many german luthiers were building fine instruments at that time, coming often from violin maker dynasties and having a quite good background of buiding instruments and of course the easy approach to valuable aged tonewoods. German Spruce, Flamed Alpine Maple etc ...
this particular guitar I bought arround 15 years ago from a local guitar store that was specialized in vintage guitars.
he had a lot of them hanging arround, most of them from east germany, Heinz Seifert, Herbert Todt and also some Roger guitars etc. But they were a bit out of my price range and I wanted to have a loud and dry, percussive tone ... so I grabbed this old one and fell in love! sweet fat percussive, loud and dry ... the perfect old jazz tone!
the neck is straight, shortscale ... very stiff chunky neck ( medium radius not too fat!)
newer bridge and 50s/60s tailpiece ...
I did not play it enough the last years so I decided to let it go
I am a professional player and I know what makes a good guitar
this is one! special guitar for a special player!
I will shoot a video soon and record it so there will be more than words to describe it! details on request
