Gibson EB-750 1991 Natural

The bass is manufactured end of 1991. Mahogany neck, laminated flame Natural maple top and back, two Bartolini PUs with active Bartolini tone control (TCT from 1991). I wondered why an instrument which cries out Jazz and Blues has an active tone control and what could have forced Jamaaladeen Tacuma and Paul Barker to use this instrument. 

To cut the matter short, you need to have a lot of fantasy to hear a hollowbody bass in the sound of the instrument. It has a strong balanced tone and - it sounds incredible when you slap it. The reason for this unexpected sound is a massive 13 x 4 x 3 inch block of wood in the center of the body (I would say maple). That makes a rich feeling on the top of your shoulders, about 11 lb.

A great instrument with an unexpected design! I read the designer of the bass was Phillip (R.) Jones (luthier in the Gibson Custom Shop in these days, later working for Gruhn Guitars in Nashville and nowadays Relic and Aging specialist for Gibson again. I tried to contact him. Until today without success.

I read the bass was build only 42 times. True?

This is truly a great bass, just played it out in September Friday Night Jam and everyone loved the tone!!! It is a wonderful piece to own.
