Up for sale is an extremely rare specimen of a guitar- the Tokai LS-2PX. It was part of a limited run Tokai did for the Japanese store Pacifix back in 2007, and only a handful of them were made.
This guitar is the creme de la creme in terms of wood- an exquisite dark Jacaranda fretboard (with fret edge nibs), a one-piece Honduras Mahogany back, and a one-piece Honduras Mahogany neck. A G**son with these specs would EASILY run you $6,000+, and this plays every bit as incredibly- sweet singing sustain that goes on for days and days and days. And look at the pictures- it’s in excellent condition, with no noticeable chips in the lacquer anywhere. Weight is a super comfortable 9 lbs.
It originally came with Dimarzio PAF pickups, but these didn’t suit me, so I swapped in Geppetto Nomads PAF clones, which have that vintage feel to them (original pickups will come in the case, should you want to revert to them). Also upgraded were the caps, which now feature premium NOS Russian PIOs.
So the inevitable question- why am I selling it? The answer is simple- the neck is a little too ‘60 for me. I prefer thicker ‘58 style necks and, try as I might, my hands just don’t play smaller/thinner necks as well.
My loss is your gain.
Comes with non-original HSC.
Any questions, don’t hesitate to ask!
