cracks on these beauties! Just a nice 50+ year old patina that has befriended them helping to dry them out even more.
And check out the lathing....Classic Vintage Zildjian 60s...that's a lot of work!!!
Back in the 60s these 14"s would have been considered "Medium Thin". Today, not so much. THESE ARE PAPERTHIN HIHATS!!!! And check out the lathing on the underside, these 14"s are from the EARLY 60s!!!
Weighing in at a VERY THIN 686 grams for the top cymbal and 776 grams for the bottom cymbal, these Vintage Zildjians play like CLASSIC Old School PaperThin Zildjians.
DARK, whispy, airy, DRY, ORGANIC Classic Vintage Zildjian sound. They're extremely responsive at lower volume levels (compliments of the thinner weights) and when you open up on them a bit, you get that great Classic Zildjian A Beatles Ringo style wash. Semi-dark. Whispy Slosh. Beautiful.

Swing, jazz, rock-a-billy, blues, big band, early R&B, barrel-house, jump blues, trio work, Stax recordings, boogie woogie, soul, bar room brawls, folk and The Beatles...that's what these Thin Vintage Zildjians excel at. Just don't rock them hard because they will break if slammed upon...and no one wants that.
