About This Listing
Gibson L-5 from 1931
This beautiful example of the original flagship Gibson archtop guitar is in original condition, except for a refret. The guitar plays and sounds like a dream.
Another excellent piece from the golden era of Gibson.
From 1931, just a few years before Epiphone and Gisbon began their 'size war', this 16" L-5 was the most sought after guitar of its time.
It features highly figured maple back and sides with a nice straight grained spruce top.
Three piece flamed maple neck with bound ebony fingerboard with block pearl inlays.
Slightly unusual for its time, this guitar features an inlay on the first fret, but we believe it to be a factory order.
Tuners with pearloid buttons; original tailpiece with patent stamp.
It has been expertly refretted and the new frets show minimal wear.
Original pickguard and mounting hardware.
Three small repaired back cracks on the lower bout.
Plenty of finish checking throughout.
Playing wear in the back of the neck.
Included in sale is the original Red-Line hard case.
Wear is present
