Sinfonietta Model S2646 Hand carved by Benedetto master luthier Damon Mailand using Bob Benedetto's patterns, moulds, tools and workbench. Our most rare and understated pure acoustic instrument features a 16" x 3" non-cutaway body and 25" neck scale with 1-3/4" nut. The back and sides are stunning, richly colored cocobolo gifted us from a private collector in Sonoma CA. The top is a stiff and resonant western red cedar carved and braced to reflect the character of the cocobolo back, with an oval hole rather than tradition archtop f-holes to warm and open the timber of the instrument. We used a Spanish cedar neck, and lovely flamed roasted maple purfling and accents. Mother of pearl inlay and floral accent, gold Waverly tuners with matching cocobolo buttons, ebony violin-style tailpiece, bridge and saddle, and a custom flight case included.
