About This Listing

With its predecessor dating back to the early '80s, the revamped Attack Decay pedal from Electro-Harmonix provides a unique and valuable service in the pedal world. Boasting wild tape reverse sounds, excellent sound shaping controls, and an amusing visual appearance, this super-cool pedal is irreplaceable on any pedalboard.

Wild Tape Reverse Sounds
The original version of this pedal was only sold between 1980 and '81. If you come across one of those originals, you're going to pay a pretty penny for it. Luckily, EHX now gives you the opportunity to have a brand new pedal, for a much more reasonable price. The main draw of this excellent pedal is its reverse volume swells, backward tape-like sounds, staccato notes, and bowed instrument replications. While the original featured a single volume envelope, this version additionally gives you the option to engage "Poly" mode and put separate volume envelopes on each note played.

Excellent Sound Shaping Controls
The Attack Decay Tape Reverse Simulator Pedal has a lot more than merely volume swells to offer. The controls on this bad boy let you mix, match, and adjust your sounds to go where no player has gone before. You can alter the attack and decay times to manipulate the volume envelope. There's a built-in Harmonix Fuzz effect which enhances the volume envelope and gives you great bowed instrument effect sounds. There's also a built-in effects loop to throw some real curve balls into your sound by adding other effects to the mix, and you can use an expression pedal or CV control over every knob on the Attack Decay.

Amusing Visual Appearance
Electro-Harmonix has a way of drawing you in with the awesome visual aspects of their pedals. The Attack Decay is no different. Set on a gray metallic background, the face has a partially bright orange top with a strip of metal in between, and a bit of black on the bottom. Its name is printed in bold letters in the middle of the pedal, with the EHX emblem below it. The two metallic switches on the bottom, coupled with black knobs up top, and clear LED buttons on the top left, give this pedal a retro-cool vibe that's hard to imitate.
