“El Daga” is an established artist most famous for his “recreation of guitar art” by using custom and vintage guitars as his medium. His pieces are in private collections and public museum throughout the world.

I personally own 100+ pieces of El Daga’s art in my collection of 1200+ vintage and custom guitars and amps (he does amps also). Due to my retirement, I have decided to sell many of these pieces. Please continue to check my store here on Reverb to see available pieces.

As a youth in Mexico City in the 1960’s, El Daga was an unlikely fan of “British Invasion” music and one of his favorite groups was “The Animals”. This guitar was based on his fond recollection of Chas Chandler’s dynamic bass playing on “Don’t Let Me Misunderstood”, “We’ve Got to Get Out of this Place”, etc.

 

For this piece, El Daga chose a 1996 Epiphone “Rivoli VC R96E” guitar. It is a “reissue” of the original 1967 Epiphone Rivoli which is one of the best hollow body bass guitars of all time. It was built in Korea at the famous “Peerless” factory.

 

NOTE: This guitar is an art piece created by hand using leather and auto chrome trip. It is artistically perfect but has cosmetic defects and deviations that always come from handwork (there are some gaps in trim, some glue spots on wood and leather, etc.) that do not have any adverse impact on the playing and the sound of this guitar. It plays great and sounds great. Currently has black wound strings that could stand a replacement. These were chosen for their cosmetic addition to the appearance of the guitar as an art piece.
