About This Listing

Rare, original Fender Custom Shop La Cabronita Especial in Shoreline Gold from 2009 – the first run of this modern classic that was limited to just 20 pieces worldwide in this color.

Here is your chance to own the actual real deal, that became very popular very quickly when it was released, and not only because John Mayer used it prominently on "Perfectly Lonely". This is a fantastic Hot Rodded Telecaster-style guitar, featuring two TV Jones Classic pickups and clever wiring that makes it very versatile.

Fender Custom Shop builder Mike Eldred invented the Cabronita (which means "Little Bastard" in Southern-Californian / Mexican slang) to be the ideal workhorse for the recording musician. The S-1 switch engages a capacitor in the guitar's wiring, that shifts the guitar's tonal response slightly toward cocked-wah territory, making it ideal to do an overdub with subtly elevated mids, or make your solo cut.

This lightweight guitar is in superb state and fully original. We couldn't find any major damage or wear, other than the factory relicing of course. The full C-shape neck is a joy to play and, armed with superb pickups, the Cabronita delivers resonant Telecaster attack, but with extra authority and no hum.

Here is what Fender write about the model:

"Probably the nastiest little guitar we've ever made. With its dual TV Jones Classic Pickups and Fender S-1 Tone Circuit (engages a tone circuit that specially voices the pickups), the Cabronita Especial is like a Telecaster with a lot more attitude. It spits out growling Tele tones and it is so uttery badass that we're only building twenty in each color!"
