Semi Acoustic Guitar Epiphone Sorrento / MIK Peerless Factory. Condition is Used.

This is the Epiphone version of the Gibson ES-125. It is a thinline, fully hollow guitar (liken ES-175, but less deep body), ideal for jazz, blues, and great for feedback-driven styles (quite a few West Coast garage bands of the ‘60s used these).

The reissued Peerless, Korea models of the late 1990s are highly sought after: additional features include, neck binding, very good quality finish, full adjustable bridge/metal saddles, better individual tuners rather than cheaper open 3-on-one piece of metal, all around more solid instrument with better selection of colours.

This particular instrument has been well used - some superficial scratches and one small chip. See pics.

In excellent playing order. And it has very good quality Thomastik infeld swing 12s on at the moment - as it was set up by a well established guitar tech for jazz playing. Lighter strings will give a more typical blues feel to it.

The previous owner changed the standard Epiphone metal pickups to black covered high quality, hotter ones, but unfortunately, I can’t remember what he said at the time! Could be Bare Knuckles - but never wanted to open and look!

It has a Bigsby that works well and doesn’t spoil the tuning.

It has had an additional switch put in for achieving several Interesting wiring combinations - it does not stick out. Most people don’t notice it until told.

Sorentos have always been elusive: not many were made in the sixties. Then the 1990s ones sold out very quickly. Since then there has been some available, but none of them match the cult status of the 1960s and 1990s versions - a quick search on the web will reveal their appeal.

This one is a real musician’s guitar, it looks used, but not bashed about, and it can fulfil a wide range of roles, especially with the added phase switch. Wonderful sound, intonation, playability. Also it is light and friendly sort of an instrument. Ideal for lazy moments - unplugged. Good, nice, intimate but rich acoustic sound too.

You are welcome to try it through a Roland JC50 (SE London, 10 mins to Victoria Station.)
