Ratliff R-5 1999 Sunburst with OHSC

I have a a great F-5 Ratliff (known as the R-5 model) with a dry, woody tone, loads of projection and tremendously made by Audey Ratliff in his small shop in Tennessee. Fully bound, no visible large scratches, just a bit of small superficial marks from handling. This mandolin has highly figured maple and a beautiful piece of spruce on top. It comes in a very nice rectangular case that Audey puts these in upon sale. It was barely played in 20 years until I got it and handled it carefully at home. There is plenty of life in the frets and the action is nice and low with no buzzes. I had it set up professionally by luthiers at a professional shop in my region.

Fully bound, pearl buttons, scooped fretboard (originally build that way - see photo), and engraved tailpiece. Nice Ratliff ornation on the peghead.

There is one blemish from storage -- a slightly discolored edge at the top point of the white binding on the peghead. Hardly noticeable and it is more like the yellowing of the binding on a vintage guitar, but is only in that one small location.

New J74 strings recently installed and a new Cumberland Acoustic bridge professionally installed in 2019 during the set up process.  The strap, armrest and pick are not included.

These are $3,995 brand new. This closet classic will cost you $1900 shipped. Hard to beat for a professional quality, hand carved F-5.
