About This Listing

1996 Sergei DeJonge (Canada) 645mm Scale, 51 mm Nut, Sitka Spruce top, Indian Rosewood sides and back, Origional lacquer varnish, Hopf tuning machines. Firm trebles and strong basses. The sound is exceedingly uniform and bright with excelent carrying power. Sergei is part of the Canadian school of classical guitar makers whose origins are with the German maker Edgar Mönch, who emigrated to Toronto in the late 1950's. Mönch's influence is still very apparent in nearly all the makers who came from the shop of Jean-Claude Larrivée, who apprenticed with Mönch. Sergei is definitely among the best, and has embraced the influences of other makers. This guitar has a John Gilber style bridge. Sergei's children have gone on to follow in his footsteps and continues to carry this tradition forward. This guitar has seen considerable usage and has several repairs on the top and back. These cracks which in no way affect the sound nor structural stability. Because of the repairs, we have priced this at a fraction of a new Sergei DeJonge. This is a real bargain of an instrument. $3,300
