The PG-380 was Casio's top of the line synth guitar, listing for about $1500 when it debuted in 1987. Features include an alder body, maple
neck with an ebony 22-fret fingerboard,
a Gotoh Floyd Rose-style (licensed) vibrato and a locking nut.
The electronics are quite impressive with
neck and middle single-coils,
and a bridge humbucker that is coil splittable by a push-pull switch on the tone control. The synth module features a Hex-pickup located by the tremolo, 64 built in tones, 12 buttons for
controlling patches and octave, a 2-digit LED display, and two LED's for
the built-in tuner. Controls include a five pole pickup selector with tone, guitar volume and synth volume. Multiple outputs include a MIDI-OUT connector, one mono output for guitar only and a
stereo for guitar + synth. The synth can be set to send on six
different MIDI channels, one for each string, or everything over one
channel. Includes slot
for additional ROM cards.
This synth guitar has just come back to life from having a full electronic service. These guitars are so well regarded, being built in the famous Fuji-Gen Ibanez Japan plant, that we have had the entire electrolytic capacitors replaced by the great guys over at Inner Sound in Clackamas, OR. Original caps and a service ticket available upon request. This is a $550+ value.
Playability on the guitar is very good. Feels identical to a Japanese built RG style guitar in quality, and with very minimum fret wear. Guitar has a handful of small dings, and one deep one on the back of the guitar, but the instrument is in very good shape for its age.
Case and head stock tool are not included. After market case negotiable.
