NEW 1975 AMPEG V9 AMPLIFIER NEAR MINT LOW HOURS JUST SERVICED
This listing is for an Ampeg V9 Three Hundred watt guitar amp that is TRULY a showcase piece.
According to Ampeg, This amp was used as a bass amp and a guitar amp! If you read the history of the V9 they actually called it the "Unimusic years" the era where they built amps for more than just one reason. It is basically an SVT with a new pre-amp section, designed for guitars with reverb and distortion. It was also designed with the thought of keyboards in mind!! Not surprisingly, though, it was immediately picked up by bassists for it's volume and punchy tone, which was different from the SVT's!
Look close at the pictures of this amp, because it has to be the finest example of the V9 we have ever seen. Soon to be 41 years old this amp has seen less than 100 hours play time according to our tech. When we received the amp from an estate it would power up but wouldn't play so we immediately benched it to see what we could find. First we replaced the power chord plug with a heavy duty plug because the original was destroyed. It was missing the pre-amp tubes and we found them in the chassis, along with the original schematic and wall label. We replaced 2 of the 12AX7's because they had been rattling around in the chassis also. Once we did that we reset the bias and eliminated the hum and this baby just played like the day it was made!!
There are no through tears in the tolex, just light scratches, and the grill cloth is pristine. It does have some light scuffing as you can see in the pictures, but that's it cosmetically. As near as we can tell the amp is completely original all the way down to the power tubes accept for what I mentioned.
When we benched the amp our tech told us that it was indeed a sight to be seen. He made us take pictures of all of the electronics because he said anyone that knows anything about Ampeg's knows that the board should be any color but green, just because of the heat generated by these monsters. He told us that he hasn't seen an amp this old in this condition in 20 years! he told us he would be surprised if this had 10-30 hours on it, it's not even broken in! It is a museum quality piece!! Other than that, all of the pots are quiet and everything functions perfectly!
Please look at the pictures for the cosmetic condition of this beautiful amplifier and ask any questions prior to bidding!!
i PUT THE SHIPPING AT THE HIGH END OF THE SPECTRUM BECAUSE OF THE WEIGHT OF THE AMP - THE CLOSER YOU LIVE THE CHEAPER IT WILL BE: ACTUAL SHIPPING WILL BE CHARGED!
Well, I have done MY job here but no one is perfect so please if you have any questions please call me – that is YOUR job, and there is always a chance that I may have overlooked something. My number is below.
