Before reading this I urge you to check out my Seller Feedback, some examples of which can be found at the end of this listing--if you get it from me, you will not be disappointed.
Handmade in Canada in 2001, this is a wonderful guitar, absolutely ideal for fingerpickers. Easy to play, comfortable to hold, soulful resonance typical of Cedar that's had a few years to mature--and augmented by 100+ hours on a ToneRite, ensuring it will sound better than any other example of this model--this is as good a deal as I can imagine for this type (00/Folk/OM/Auditorium) guitar.
Generally regarded as the top drawer builder in the Godin family of Canadian luthiers, Simon & Patrick no longer offers this model in this particular configuration, having replaced it with the more expensive Woodland Pro Folk--great looker which, in my opinion, is inferior to this in terms of sound. (OK, apples/oranges--different materials, different finishes, maybe an unfair comparison. I like this one WAY more, but that's subjective.)
With its 1 3/4" fret width at nut, it's plenty roomy enough for fingerpickers but is articulate enough to work great with a pick. EXQUISITE DETAILS/MATERIALS: solid Cedar top; pressure-pressed Cherry body looks great and is, in effect, processed to behave acoustically as solid wood; Maple neck, Rosewood fretboard and bridge; low-lustre finish (a huge plus for sound). The result: an extremely soulful little box of sound which really
sings. Due to size and weight, this would make an ideal writer's guitar (what I call a PG--Pal Guitar) but has plenty of volume to hold its own in a group context.
I had a hard time getting the label in focus; here's what it says:
Simon & Patrick Luthier Modele S & P Folk Cedar
And that’s all, other than small stuff at the bottom (“Handmade in Quebec...”)
Overall excellent condition. One minor ding on top and a few odd discolorations (see last picture), a tad of wear on treble side of rosette, but nothing major. Frets are in good shape; back, neck, fretboard and headstock are pretty pristine.
And priced to sell. If you want to make an offer, do so soon--I don't think this one will be up very long.
- Check out my other listings--all GREAT STUFF, immaculate condition, best prices, ready to play out of the box.
- Note: Ebay now applies a tax of 8% to sales which are shipped to some states. If you live in one of those states, the charge will be added on after the sale--I DON'T RECEIVE A PENNY OF THAT.
Also note: As with all my guitars, if the shipping expense exceeds what I'm charging, it's on me but if it's less, I'll refund you the difference.
