Immaculate set of vintage Slingerland drums. With custom modifications.
Very cool kit in jazz sizes. Compact, small foot print, easy to set up and transport.
The drums have been refinished and refurbished by custom drum builder Jeff Kirsch of Portland, Oregon. Jeff is regarded as one of the best drum makers in the field today. Drums are finished in natural mahogany stain -- absolutely beautiful drums. No scuffs or scratches on the shells, bearing edges and shell interiors in perfect condition.
Each drum delivers exceptional woody tone with lots of resonance -- as you would expect from classic drums of this era.
All drums have been professionally refinished with bearing edges re-cut by Jeff. Some custom modifications have been made as noted below.
20 x 14 inch bass drum, black and gold 1960s badge. Mahogany shell with maple re rings. 8 lugs per side, original Slingerland lugs, tension rods and claws. Black wood hoops with silver sparkle inlay -- hoops and inlay in perfect condition. Original legs/spurs with original mounts. The tom mounting assembly has been replaced with a vintage Ludwig diamond plate tom port and a Gibraltar single ball and socket tom mounting post. This assembly provides improved tom support and positioning compared to the original Slingerland mounting hardware. The original mounting holes for the Ludwig tom port have been professionally filled and covered by Jeff. New vintage style Remo Slingerland coated script front head and newer Remo coated Powerstroke batter head. Amazing punch and low end from such a small drum.
16 x 16 floor tom, silver and black 1970s badge. Mahogany shell with maple re rings. Original Stick Saver hoops. Original lugs and tension rods and original functioning internal muffler with control dial. The leg mounts and legs have been upgraded to contemporary hardware. Remo coated Vintage A batter head and Remo clear resonate head -- both heads in excellent condition. Superb low end and resonance from this drum.
12 x 8 mounted tom, silver and black 1970s badge. Mahogany shell with maple re rings. Original Stick Saver hoops. Original lugs and tension rods and original functioning internal muffler with control dial. The original Singerland tom mounting hardware has been replaced with a high-end Gauger GPI aluminum alloy RIMS mount and a vintage Ludwig tom mounting port. The original Slingerland tom mounting holes are in place if you want to add the original hardware to this drum. Remo coated Ambassador batter head and Remo clear resonate head -- both heads in excellent condition. Excellent clear resonance and wide tuning range from this tom.
