An update... Dom Polito, one of the main guitarists of classicalbumslive.com, who purchased this set for his Gibson R9 Les Paul, agreed with me on what I said in the description "It feels like my Les Paul should have sounded this way but I didn't know before". It simply tells all about this pickup set. Guess I don't have to mention that he said this set was the best among 50 pickup brands/models he had ever tried :)

Inspire Series I-1N/I-1B, Fantastic Mr. Z (FMZ)

- AlNiCo3 magnet / PE42
- HB (humbucker) mode: 7.54 kohm (Neck), 8.16 kohm (Bridge)
- SE (split-expand) mode: 4.47 kohm (Neck), 4.78 kohm (Bridge)
- SET (split-expand-tap) mode: 3.33 kohm (Neck), 3.61 kohm (Bridge)

FMZ is based on the legendary "Dry Z" pickup made by Greco in 1980-1981 for their high-end Les Paul models. It comes with an AlNiCo 3 (simply, A3) magnet. A3 is known to generate the least magnetic strength among all AlNiCo family, resulting in super "flat" response to the all frequency range. The tone is true to the guitar wood character. It shines with light to mid overdrive. The sound out of it is... It feels like my Les Paul should have sounded this way but I didn't know before... It sounds weird but that's the best description I can make. If you like vintage sound and are not happy with your current pickups, this would be a great tryout.

SE and SET modes are surprisingly clean for the moderate character of A3 magnet. Check out the sound clips and demo YouTube video below!  

Solder-less Prewired Kit for Les Paul

The SETbucker offers more versatile tonal options at the expense of more complex wiring. This prewired kit eliminates such a complexity and even soldering for installation!

Included:
- I-1N/1B set. Please contact us first if you need your pickup covered (+$20 for Nickel or +$40 for Gold).
- 2-volume and 2-tone: see below for push/pull pot selections
- 4 barrel knobs with color of your choice (gold, orange or black) that matches the pot bushing spline of choice.
- 0.022 µF Orange Drop capacitors
 - 2 snap-in terminals for SETbucker and signal wires
- 3-port ground wire splicer
- Pickup selection switch, input jack and connecting wires for them are NOT included. Please contact us if you need them for an extra charge (+$30). Note that a wire from the selection switch to the input jack MUST be soldered at installation (no more solderless).

Push/pull pot selections:
- Alpha with 3/8" bushing diameter/length, 24-spline: for US-made LP holes and knobs, defaults selection, if no specific request at order
- Bourne with 3/8" bushing diameter/length, 18-spline: for US-made LP holes and import knobs
- Some Epiphone and import LPs have 8 mm pot holes. We recommend to use 3/8" pots by slightly expanding the holes but let us know if you want to use 8 mm push/pull pots (18 spline) and we can support.
