60’s or 70’s Terada Jumbo Acoustic. Model 42-277, Made in Japan. Gibson Jumbo clone.

Terada made Martin, Gibson/Epiphone acoustics in the 60’s, 70’s, and beyond, amongst other brands and styles. At that time they also produced identical guitars from both brands with the Terada name on it. So you’re basically buying a quality Japanese made Gibson acoustic with Terada put on the headstock. (See below for longer description of Terada)

See pics for dings etc. This guitar has had an interesting life and it shows, but there are zero breaks or cracks in the Wood and it’s never been repaired. This guitar is solid, structurally sound and plays like it. There are cracks in the finish (see pics) which seems to be normal for these guitars. Once again, nothing structurally wrong, this guitar has just been played and it shows.

It’s got a big sound and plays great! I really do enjoy this guitar, but it doesn’t get played quite enough. It’s got a great vintage vibe to it, which is what you’d expect from a guitar that’s over 40 years old or more.

I’m a big fan of Japanese made guitars and this one is no exception, I’m just running out of space and it needs a good home.

Shipping to Continental United States ONLY. If you’re in Texas then I’m willing to travel to meet you partway.

Terada was established in 1912 making violins for Toys. After World War II, around 1955, Terada started to make `Stringed Instruments’ in earnest. In the 1970’s they had three plants near the Nagoya area and produced more than 10,000 guitars per month for Domestic market and also for Overseas market. The Terada factory also built Orville, Epiphone, and Thumb brand guitars among others. Gretsch also contracted out to Terada to make some of their higher end guitars when the company was resurrected in the mid 80’s. Steinberger also used Terada to make the Japanese bodies for the USA graphites.”

Also built for Burny.
