I’m not sure what to tell you. This guitar doesn’t seem to officially exist.
Serial number 9417340
According to Jackson’s serial number site and some other sources on the web, this indicates a MIJ Jackson made in 1994. Most specifically it seems to correspond to their Concept series of the time, which had very small production runs and was only manufactured for a single year.
Headstock says Jackson Professional Dinky HX
According to the Jackson catalogs from 1993-94 & 1994-95, there was a Jackson Dinky and there was a Jackson Stealth HX. Neither catalog shows a model that is a Dinky *and* HX.
This guitar seems to have the finish and string-through-body hardtail of the Stealth HX, but the size & shape is definitely that of the Dinky. So maybe it could make sense that the Concept series produced a few of these hybrids? This guitar is also a little different than most Dinkys and Stealth HX models in the catalog in that both of those models mostly had three pickups, whereas this has two humbuckers.
Speaking of humbuckers, the ones in this guitar are not the originals. Before I purchased it, someone had installed EMG 85 & 60 in the bridge & neck, respectively.
It’s in wonderful shape! The neck is straight. Frets are barely worn. Besides a couple of places where the guitar was bumped (shown in photos) and a few difficult-to-see swirls, the finish is basically a mirror (also shown in photos). Tuners work perfectly.
The collector in me hates, hates, hates to sell this guitar. But the player in me just doesn’t play it. The neck is astonishingly thin, which turns out to be too thin for me to play comfortably. Please give it a good home.
