This is my Nero #394, a design borrowing from ideas and
styles from the 60s adapted to my specific building techniques. It is a brand
new, completely hand built guitar that was on display at NAMM 2020
The body is hollow with a solid block support under the
bridge, constructed with a Douglas fir core and slightly arched poplar top and
western cedar top back. The finish is acrylic marker and Danish Oil that brings
out the golden brilliance of the woods
The scale is 24-3/4”, the neck is a very friendly C carve
with a 1-11-16”” Delrin nut, Schaller TOM bridge and fixed aluminum tailpiece.
The neck is my standard design with a maple back / walnut head, maple
fretboard, a dual action trussrod… all topped off with 24 Jescar 47104 frets
and a new set of HipShot open-back locking tuners- finished with a satiny Danish oil. It is a very comfortable and
easy playing neck.
The pickups are my handwound Type13SC single coil “silver
foils” (under actual cow hide) of the same design as the 60’s DeArmond – Rowe
gold foils- These pickups really come alive in this hollowbody, clean, sweet
and sizzling when pushed. Controls are CTS master volume and tone pots with a
Switchcraft 3-way toggle.
This is a very nice and easy to play guitar that can fill
many spaces in your music
