Marantz HD-880 1978 Walnut

Marantz HD-880 speakers. These famous speakers were made in 1978-1980 and are considered among the very finest Marantz speakers ever made. They were designed by legendary JBL designer, Audio Hall of Fame, Edmond May who left JBL in 1977 and joined Marantz until his death in 1980.  During his tenure at Marantz he was given complete freedom by Marantz to design the finest speakers available to compliment their legendary audio reputation. These 4 way speakers were rated as one of the best speakers by Stereo Review in the $700-$800 range back in 1978 and are a true gem to listen to!  Very underrated speakers. 

The woofers are the originals and not inferior replacements like many other sets have had installed over the years. All other components are also original and work as intended. The speakers also have the original Vari-Q's with new foam.  The woofer surrounds are in great shape and balanced properly. No black laminate peeling or wood lifting on the exterior cabinets.  Both grills even have the original speaker badges on them.  Both grills have all 4 insert pins intact which is also a rarity.  The walnut grain and condition of the exterior cabinets are in VG condition. But make a determination of the condition for yourself by examining the photos. Finding speaker sets in this condition is nearly impossible now.  I would love to keep these but I already own seven sets of Marantz speakers in the house so I have no room.

I am a seller of high end Marantz vintage audio with over 90 restored receivers sold to date on Reverb, E-Bay (gunn1softball) or by local listings with a 100% satisfaction rating. I am now using Reverb instead of E-bay. 

I cannot ship these speakers due to weight, cost and probable damage.  But I am willing to meet halfway/ or even deliver from zip code 08361 for a reasonable fee.
