About This Listing

Update:

I changed the pickups in one of my Godin Summit Classics.  I had Seymour Duncan Phat Cat pickups in that guitar.  I decided to put those pickups in the Dorchester.  I re-shot most of the photos of the guitar; now with the phat cat pickups installed.  The guitar has a fresh set of strings.

History:

I went through a huge Godin kick and nearly bought every one of their modern models. They are truly underrated guitar makers. This is technically a Richmond branded guitar but they were a subsidiary of the Godin company that got reabsorbed by the main Godin brand. This is a really fun guitar to play when you want something a little different. Although I have since got a 1970s Hagstrom Viking so I do not need another bright semi hollow guitar. I need to start cutting back on my collection.

Condition:

The finish of the body has two noticeable defects. There are a couple small impacts in the finishing between the pickups and another couple marks near the input jack. Otherwise the finish only has normal micro scratches. The wood on this guitar has beautiful figuring. I believe that the main body of the guitar is a three piece maple but the seams are only noticeable at the horns. The body is heavily chambered; where it takes on a lightweight semi hollow quality. The back of the guitar is two bookmatched pieces of maple with a resin binding. The cherry burst is very vibrant and brings out the lines of the maple. The neck is a mild birdseye maple with a wavy rosewood fingerboard. If you have never played a Godin they have consistently well shaped necks with fantastic fret jobs. The frets have very minor wear and still have the majority of their life left in them. The tuners are very smooth vintage kluson style slotted pegs. I have replaced the pickups with a set from an Ibanez artcore series guitar. The 3-way pickup selector sequence is reversed. It functions just fine but the neck and bridge positions are the opposite of what they normally are. The bridge and tailpiece are chrome plated stainless steel. The bullet style roller saddles give the guitar a cool vintage look. The body shape it a bit like a Rickenbacker. It has graphtech tusq pre-slotted nut. The guitar currently has 9 gauge strings on it but you could easily change to 10 gauge. The gig bag isn’t a very tight fit but is well built and padded. I will include an extra set of nine gauge strings with the guitar.

Shipping:

I only ship within the contiguous United States. I will buy the shipping label through Reverb. It will most likely be via UPS Ground unless Reverb gets a better deal elsewhere.

Returns:

This guitar is sold as described. I will not accept returns unless the guitar doesn't arrive in the condition I have described and photographed.
