About This Listing

Here is a Biltmore Classic archtop guitar. This is a Harmony brand instrument which is a bit better build quality than your average Monterey acoustic. I believe it was made in the 1940s. It has a natural finish which has been stained and lacquered. The finish is all original. The back of the neck on this one was painted white and has worn off from years of playing. The design on the back of the headstock is original and is more reminiscent of a Gretsch than a Harmony. It comes with a standard bridge but the tailpiece is more deluxe. The original pickguard was broken so another was made to match the binding. It looks very good. The tortoise binding is all original and unbroken. The nut and tuners are original as well. As with most of these old guitars there is a dip in the neck. As you play closer to the octave it has a Telecaster twang to it. I measured the action and it is a hair under 4/32" at the twelfth fret. This instrument was sitting in it's case, which I also believe to be original, for some time and some of the finish on the upper and lower bouts has worn off. There are also a couple of repaired cracks next to the bass side F-hole. Overall, this is a very original and honest guitar and should make a great player for somebody.
