Sony 1-504-515 8"Subwoofer Super Woofer PAIR Perfect Operating condition Powered Subwoofer Project

...  Up for grabs is this PAIR/ two/ both, yep, what you see is what you get  both 8" speakers for a single bid.......

..  First, these are the Sony branded 1-504-515 super subwoofers....They were the ones that Sony used in those killer powered subwoofer/surround speakers that would amaze you for an 8" driver....

...   These aren't your every day woofer, and if you were searching purposely for these, well, you already know that, and how hard it is to find one... 

.........Usually, those that you find are  in need of foam surrounds and creased cones...Two would be even more rare ....  A single that's in perfect condition is rare.... 

....... Two is an OPPORTUNITY!!!.. These can keep up with high $$$ special built 8's that cost many times more...

   BOTH of these have been PROPERLY serviced at PMR in Ohio, and when acquired, needed new foam surrounds like every other one...

//  BUT- these were done properly, and with the PROPER surrounds...Typical foam replacement surrounds are molded with an "angled  inner attach", and have an angled ridge where they would attach to the cone, just like almost every other woofer does.......

.  THESE- these are the ones which have a flat OUTER attach, but the inner attach is a smooth, continual profile of the cone itself, , without any ridge/crease, just as they should be.. They aren't "generic" surrounds, but the correct ones....They are simply an angle extended off of the half roll....   

.....  And- YES-  I WILL sell just the surrounds, but they're expen$ive...

..    These were repaired properly, by cutting away the thick pressed paper dust cap, and THEN- shims were installed into the voice coil gap to ensure absolutely perfect alignment of the coil in the gap, and to omit any chance of voice coil rub, or bottoming out from  using a generic foam....

..    Soon, after the foam surrounds and front mounting gaskets were installed, the shims were removed, and then new pressed paper dust caps were installed to complete the over haul...

..  As far as the numbers, I think these are 1 1/2" diameter high temp  aluminum voice coils, are FOUR layer heavy duty and  are 150 watts RMS.

......They do have a strange DCR, which both measure 4.5 Ohms, so I'd rate them with a 6 Ohm IMPEDANCE, somewhat making them 4/8 ohm comparable...

......Factory rated at 25-150Hz, and a respectable 96dB SPL!!!

..  Guys, if you're either doing a replacement, an upgrade, or especially using these in a DIY high performance home hi fi application, these 8's are greater  than the sum of their parts.... For an 8", they'll surprise you... GREAT for compact automotive applications as dedicated subwoofers, and even as KILLER mid bass drivers, while running with a dedicated large/main subwoofer.....

 Ran under diagnostics without any rubbing, buzzing, holes, rips, tears, rot, or adhesive failures- they work just peachy!!!
