About This Listing

For sale is a 2010 Moffa "Lorraine" semi-acoustic jazz Guitar.

This is a handmade Guitar from Nico Moffa in Italy. The waiting list is something like two years!
Players like Kurt Rosenwinkel and Wolfgang Muthspiel are using Moffa's instruments.

The new price is approx. €6,500. (Euros)

There are many examples on YouTube to get an idea what it sounds like.
Although it is a semi-acoustic with a block, it is much more of a "real" Jazz archtop than a typical Semi sound and feel.
The two single coil pickups are not cut into the top, rather just mounted with four screws.
The pickups, which Moffa winds himself, must be some sort of hum cancelling design because they don't hum and have a very high output. (13 Ohms!)
Much thicker tone than what I think of as a typical (P-90) single coil sound
Here the specs as best as I can discern:

Carved solid spruce top
Carved flamed maple back and sides
One piece pearwood neck. Normal width but nice and fat
628 mm scale (Gibson) with compound radius and fairly large frets
22 fret ebony fingerboard with side markers only
2 single coil pickups with adjustable pole pieces. 1 volume, one tone control, pickup selector
Ebony bridge and ebony trapeze tailpiece. Tune-a-matic type bridge is also included
Ebony pick guard
There is a wooden cover on the back to access the electronics
Two strap buttons; one on the neck heel and one slightly above the end pin jack
Grover tuners
Moffa was a violin builder, and there is no real binding. The top and back are slightly oversized creating sort of a slight ridge like a violin
Comes with a good case, which due to the guitar's unusual shape, does not fit tightly

This is a very unique guitar for the right player.
It has a very nice acoustic sound, unlike the semi guitar that I own
Intonation is very good, Moffa obviously builds the bridge to each guitar
The depth is also slighly more than a Gibson semi. (50 Cm)
15" bout
Good condition with some player wear.
Frets show slight normal wear, some finish on the top and rim is worn from the arm resting (see photos)
A few small nicks
Neck shows no wear and has a matt finish
No cracks or repairs

I have a sturdy box to ship.

I am not interested in any trades or offers.
I can answer questions in english or german
An interested buyer asked me to send him a straight-ahead dry recording of the guitar. I made a quick recording using a copy-written playback track that I don't want to post online. If you would like a copy, send me a message and I will send the link.

Shipping will be whatever it costs to send it to the buyer, not more, not less.
