If youre looking at this listing, then you probably already know what this is. If you're not familiar, then heres a quick recap. This is a 1965 Mosrite Venture model ii SLAB BODY. These guitars are famous for being the model Johnny Ramone used throughout his career. In fact, his very first guitar was a blue one like this, that was stolen from him off stage (is it this one??!!). Most famously he was seen using a white one. Now what makes this guitar even more special is the extremely low production number of these guitars - some say 50, some say 100. However, there are only about 25 examples currently known about. These guitars are very very desirable and sought after by both vintage mosrite collectors as well as Ramones fans.
This guitar is in fantastic shape and plays so amazingly well that its hard to let go off. Thin, fast neck that makes you see how this guitar truly influenced Johnny's playing style. The guitar features its original blue finish which is quite a bit more rare than the *more common* (if you can even call it that) white or red finish. The guitar is lightweight and the pickups scream measuring around 11k ohms a piece.
Now these guitars typically run around $10k however this one is probably the best priced one you'll ever find. At one point, it was slightly routed for humbuckers. Ive since replaced the humbuckers with very accurate repros (thanks Max) and a repro pickguard. the original pickguard will also be included but is obviously routed for HB's. There were also different tuners on it at point (though no extra screw holes) and have since been returned to the original tuners. All other parts and finish is original including the pots, switch, bridge, and cool proprietary tailpiece which actually works and stays in tune very well. The frets are in good shape, and as mentioned earlier, the guitar plays extraordinarily well. If youre a guitar collector who likes to own the most rare and collectible instruments, then this is one you cannot pass up. You can find a list online showing all of the known examples of these throughout the world, and let me tell you, it is small. With refin examples selling for around $5k, this original finish blue one is priced to sell.
Will include a non original Gibson hardshell rectangle case.
