1941 Martin 00-18H 12-fret Sunburst Guitar

For sale is my 1941 12-fret Martin 00-18H in sunburst top finish. The 'H' stands for Hawaiian. This guitar was converted from Hawaiian style of playing to standard many years ago. When the conversion took place one crack occurred in front of the bridge between the 5th and 6th strings. This occurred before I purchased the guitar in 2006. I have a fuzzy picture of it and will continue to try to get a clear photo of the crack.

The nut width is 1 7/8" with a bridge spacing of 2 3/8"

This guitar is from the last batch of 00-18H's. There were 25 guitars in the batch.  

5 Years ago I had some work performed by the incredible luthier, Dennis Berck. This work included:

-       leveling and resurface the bar frets

-       bone nut and saddle.

-       Remove the original bridge plate and reinforce the underside of the top then reattach the ORIGINAL bridge plate. This technique was devised by the great guitar builder, repair person Willie Hencks. The work is invisible under the bridge plate. Dennis did a great job with the repair.

-       Cracks: there is one crack in the top near the bridge as mentioned earlier. There are 2 cracks in the bass upper bout. One is about 1 inch in length and the other is about 1 ½ inches. All the cracks are stable.

-       There are a few scratches as can be expected from a guitar this age.

-       There are a few finish issues that are documented in the photos.

-       The tuners are original. The headstock is clean with no breaks or repaired cracks (no cracks)

The thing that amazes me about 00 12 fret guitars is the sound. It is always bigger and fuller than the little guitar should be able to produce!!

 The 00-18H comes with a Calton case decorated with Hula Girl stickers.
