Short Description:
#11 of 30! Played by Bryan Sutton himself!
What We Think:
No short write up can truly encompass the beauty, power, and mojo of this guitar. Modeled after Bryan's own D-150, it is an elegant workhorse of a dreadnought with a robust but warm tonality. The aged Adirondack spruce top and bracing rounds out the gorgeously classic sparkle from the Brazilian back and sides. Round it out with the knowledge that Bryan himself played it at the 2014 IBMA and you have a true acoustic tone monster!

Manufacturer Description:
The Bryan Sutton Limited Edition
Aged Tone™ Dreadnought
Eighteen years ago, Bryan Sutton burst onto the bluegrass scene with Ricky Skaggs and Kentucky Thunder, capturing the immediate attention of the bluegrass world and beyond. Thousands of performances, hundreds of recordings and seven IBMA “Bluegrass Guitarist of the Year” awards later, Bryan is widely regarded as finest flatpicker of his generation and among the elite players in the history of the genre.
The Bryan Sutton Limited Edition (LE) Dreadnought is re-creation of Bryan’s 1997 D-150, incorporating not only the look, feel and sound of the original, but much of its broken-in vibe as well. That D-150 that was used extensively on Ricky Skaggs’ groundbreaking album, “Bluegrass Rules” (1997), on Bryan’s influential solo album, “Ready To Go”, (2000), and in countless stage performances.
According to Dana, “The idea behind the Limited Edition is to get as close as possible to that same elusive, broken-in sound of Bryan's D-150. The new version will still require some playing to achieve the fullness, immediacy and ‘old friend’ feel of the original, but we are convinced it will not require seventeen years of playing by a picker as prolific as Bryan!”
The Bryan Sutton LE Dreadnought features the first Aged Tone™ torrified Adirondack spruce bracing ever offered in Bourgeois guitars, premium Brazilian rosewood back and sides from a special reserve set aside by Dana exclusively for this series, an Aged Tone Adirondack top, Aged Tone finish, hide glue construction and the familiar D-150 trim package. Additional features unique to this Limited Edition include double-scalloped Banjo Killer-style X bracing, and a vintage-style ”long” saddle.
