Martin has been the premier maker of the flat top acoustic guitars since the mid 1800’s.
The J40M (now called J40) features a return to scalloped bridge and adaptation of the grand concert (jumbo) size. Even more significant, the J40M is the first Martin to feature the now popular low profile neck. The guitar features Style 45 hexagon abalone inlays and abalone around the sound hole, bound fingerboard, rosewood back and sides, Sitka spruce top, ebony bridge with abalone dot bridge pins and gold plated hardware. The original style 40 was introduced in the 1860’s. This is a first year model of the revamped J40M, and as such it is one of the most rare modern production Martin models.
