About This Listing

Up for sale, a 2005 Gretsch 6122-1962 Gretsch "Country Classic" Chet Atkins Country Gentleman in near mint condition and in perfect working order. Whether you're looking for country twang or a touch of that George Harrison British Invasion tone, you can't beat the '62 reissue Gretsch 6122. With a 17" fully hollow slim body and entirely maple construction, this Gretsch has immediate attack, and a clear, balanced acoustic tone that's enhanced by the great midrange character of a pair of Filter'Tron humbuckers. The simulated F holes cut down on unwanted feedback, and this guitar delivers a full spectrum of great sounds with bass that has just enough oomph to be present and yet not too boomy, and top end that twangs and sparkles with the best. The guitar weighs 8lbs. Professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar and currently strung with 11-50 strings, this Country Gentleman plays effortlessly with low, comfortable action.

From driving rhythm to ripping leads, the classic double-cutaway G6122-1962 Country Classic II does it all. Features include dual High Sensitive Filter’Tron pickups, three-piece maple neck, ebony fingerboard with Neo Classic thumbnail inlays, back pad, gold plexi pickguard, gold-plated hardware and Bigsby B6 vibrato tailpiece.

The neck has a slender C profile with a hand-carved 1 3/4" wide bone nut and traditional Gretsch 24.6" scale length. The neck has just enough depth to feel substantial, yet has slight shoulders for elegant, effortless playability, measuring .830" deep at the 1st fret and .895" at the 9th. The ebony fretboard has tasteful white binding and pearl thumbnail inlays, and the slender frets retain their full factory height with virtually no wear. The headstock sports the original immaculate Grover Imperial tuning machines which have great tuning stability and a smooth gear ratio.

On the body, all of the electronics work as they should, with standard Gretsch controls featuring individual pickup and tone toggles, a Master Volume control and individual Volumes for each pickup, with a kill swich three-way toggle (on/off/on) located just south of the bridge pickup Volume control. The gold hardware is nigh flawless, with a lustrous sheen on the pickup covers, roller bridge, G pointer knobs, and Bigsby B6G vibrato tailpiece. The Gretsch roller bridge with ebony base allows for very smooth action on the Bigsby vibrato tailpiece, suitable for surfy shimmies or deeper dives with ease. Cosmetically, the guitar is near mint, with barely a scratch on it. The neck profile is free of wear, and this is a stunning example of one of Gretsch's most iconic models.
The original hardshell case is included.
