About This Listing

Overview In a Class All Its Own

Taylor updated their Presentation Series PS16ce acoustic-electric guitar with premium tonewoods that include sumptuous cocobolo for the back and sides and instead of Sinker redwood on this one you get a gorgeous piece of Sitka Spruce. The cocobolo along the punchy attack of the spruce top, serves up a rich, dynamic sonic palette suitable for a broad range of styles. High-end appointments abound, including a beveled ebony armrest, Taylor’s intricate Nouveau inlay in paua and pearl, a paua rosette and edge trim, Gotoh 510 tuners, and ES2 electronics. Handcrafted by Taylor’s elite luthiers, the PS16ce is a breathtaking guitar with impeccable playability and stunning good looks.

Grand Symphony body style: huge, balanced tone with articulation

Bob Taylor developed the Grand Symphony body style to push the sonic envelope (yet again). Deeper, fuller, and louder than a Grand Auditorium — or a dreadnought, for that matter — the Taylor PS16ce serves up sonorous, piano-esque lows, solid midrange, and confident treble. Whether strumming big chords or flatpicking intricate runs, this instrument gives your notes articulation — even with a light attack. The Grand Symphony is a guitar to be reckoned with.

Cocobolo back and sides for rich, balanced tone

A dense, rigid tropical hardwood from Mexico, cocobolo delivers a moderately bright tone punctuated with shimmering treble overtones. Fast, articulate, and responsive, with moderate note decay, cocobolo is sonically similar to koa. However, it resonates a bit deeper on the low end — although it doesn’t have quite the bass bloom of ovangkol or rosewood. Used for the back and sides of the Taylor PS16ce, cocobolo complements a broad range of playing styles and is recommended for players who prefer a brighter rosewood sound with a little less low end and a little more treble zing.

Renowned Taylor Expression System electronics

Designed to faithfully reproduce the Taylor PS16ce’s native tone, the Taylor Expression System uses patented dynamic sensors to capture top and string vibration like never before. The Taylor ES system was created in partnership with renowned audio pioneer Rupert Neve — and the system is seamlessly integrated into the design of the guitar from the ground up. Onboard tone controls provide added flavor or can be set flat for an uncolored, exceptionally clean amplified sound
