GE 6550A sextet. Matched on an Orange VT1000. Same date and factory code (KY plant), stapled plates, test strong. Perfect for a thundering Ampeg bass rig!
Please note: I label and mark *boxes*, very rarely marking the actual tube. Please ensure that you do not mix the tubes up before you have cataloged them via your own method.
Boxes: Nine times out of ten, I will ship tubes in their original packaging. At times, I may substitute a white box in instances where the original box is damaged. I swear RCA made the best boxes of all time, but many other manufacturers put very little effort into and sometimes I am less than delicate when opening them up. Flaps get wrecked, it happens.
Test Data: I have multiple tube testers, from Hickok to cheap emissions testers to the old stand up dime store models. My current fave is a new Orange VT1000 tester. It is very nearly foofproof, never needs calibration, and offers repeatable and consistent results. Unless stated otherwise, this is the unit that your tubes will be tested on. Please not that the "Matching" numbers on the Orange unit are not purely gain numbers. The number is derived from a variety of factors and cannot be used to show simply how hot (or not) a tube may be.
Microphonics: I do not routinely test for microphonics. I can do this for many preamps tubes though if requested. This in and of itself is no guarantee that the tube will exhibit similar behavior in your own setup.
