The Lotus Eater is built from a 1960's Hammond organ power amp chassis completely converted into an all tube guitar amp. This is a custom hand built circuit based on the classic lightning amp with master volume. The amp's foundation is a 1960's Hammond power transformer, output transformer and choke. New power supply capacitors, resistors, and tone circuit components built on Hammond eyelet board. Amp produces both classic EL84 chime cleans and high gain distortion. Rolling back guitar volume controls amp gain nicely and master volume allows high gain drive at a reasonable volume. The bass and treble controls are interactive and produce a wide variety of tones for both clean and over driven sounds. The amp sounds excellent as a platform for effect pedals. Input and power supply grounded separately for low noise. 3/4' plywood head cab covered in navy marine vinyl with aluminum engraved logo plate.
Power section will allow for different rectifier tubes such as, 5U4GB/5V4/5R4/5AR4/GZ34/5Y3GT. Each rectifier tube will increase or lower B+ voltage which will affect output tube plate voltages. Amp's output tube plate voltage is 325vdc with a 5AR4 Rectifier. Cathode bias push-pull output section and unmatched or matched output tubes can be used depending on preference. 2 x 6BQ5/EL84/7189 output tubes. Many types of preamp tubes (12AU7,12AY7, (12BH7, 12AT7 phase inverter V3 socket) can be used for desired level of gain, output volume and tone.
