1958/1963 Gibson "Leftover Parts" Explorer.
An 80's Max or Monty with Gibson parts would be easily $25k
This one's better.
Assembled at the Gibson factory in 1963 for the salesmen to liquidate the remaining parts from the Gibson Explorer experiment which was somewhat of a failure at the time. Did not leave the factory until the mid 80's move from Kalamazoo to Nashville. Gibson's mid 80's Nashville auctions for "Leftover" parts are pretty well known. Gibson never threw ANYTHING out. Still don't.
All original. All factory correct routes. Original 1963 Parts including Gold Covered Patent No. Pickups. No broken Solder!
Re-necked with correct spec Prototype neck and total refinish in the 80's by factory authorized luthier.
